Early into the girls basketball season, multiple middle school teams around the county competed in a tournament held in Vandalia. The tournament took place across four days: Sept. 18-21.

Both the seventh and eighth grade Pocahontas teams won their respective championship games. “We played very well,” newly-minted head coach Donald Smith said. The Pocahontas eighth graders defeated Brownstown 21-15 while the seventh graders won their Brownstown matchup, 27-17. “Brownstown had a hard time with our press.” For more information see the September 26, 2023 edition of the Greenville Advocate.
