Piasa (Southwestern) took the measure of the Greenville Lady Comet soccer team 4-0 on April 6 in Brighton, but GHS hung tough.
The win moved the Birds to 2-0 in SCC play and 3-4 overall, thanks to their difficult non-conference schedule, while GHS fell to 1-1 in the conference and 5-6 overall.
“We came out and made life very difficult for the defending conference champions,” said GHS coach Chris Swift. “We had girls playing out of position and doing everything possible to try and keep them at bay. Really proud of Kinley Grove, who marked the best player in the conference and took her out of the game.”
GHS keeper Shayna Henderson had eight saves. For more information see the April 11, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
