It was an exciting finish for the Greenville Jr. High 8th grade boys basketball team at home against Staunton.

Trailing 25-23 with seconds ticking away Teague Alstat took a pass from Christian Swalley and buried a three from the left wing to lift the Jays to a 26-25 victory.

With 10 seconds remaining in the contest, Swalley began to drive into the lane from the top of the key. He dribbled through his legs then crossed over the Staunton defender not once but twice as headed for the left side of the lane.

As he reached the elbow of the free throw lane he kicked out a pass to Alstat who caught it in rhythm, rose up and buried the three with four seconds to play.

The Jays trailed 20-17 entering the final quarter.

Swalley led the way in the scoring column with 10 points including a pair of threes.

7th grade

The 7th grade was beaten 35-13 by the Terriers. Taevon Petty had eight points on the night including a pair of threes to lead Greenville.
