Clutch free throw shooting is a difference maker.
For Greenville High School it gave them a 69-60 victory over East St. Louis (SIUE Charter) in the opening game of pool play at the Kaskaskian Classic in Carlyle on Nov. 25..
GHS went 9-for-12 from the line in the final 1:20 of the contest to take the nine point win.
With Greenville leading 60-55 the Cougars began to foul to catch up but GHS was up to the task.
Cale Ackerman went 5-for-6 from the stripe while Kaleb Gardner went 2-for-2.
“Kaleb and Cale are two of the guys we want at the line during the 4th quarter,” said GHS coach Todd Cantrill. “They did a great job of finishing and securing the win.”
