Greenville University men’s basketball coach George Barber and his fast-paced system of basketball has begun their 2023-24 campaign with a 1-1 record.

Home opening win

GU was up by as much as 34 points early in the second half, then hung on for a 114-107 win over Lakeland, (Wis.) Friday night at H.J. Long Gymnasium.

The win upped the Panthers record to 1-1 while the Muskies fell to 0-2.

“To beat a team that beat us by 30 last year, that’s a good feeling,” said Barber. “Now to figure out how do we stop this flood where the other team is coming, how do we stop the bleeding?” For more information see the November 14, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
