An RBI single by George Schneider and a Landon Mokris two-run home run capped a big sixth inning to propel the Greenville University baseball team to a 9-4 win over Wheaton College at Ish Smith Field Saturday.

GU had jumped out to an early 3-0 lead then fell behind 4-3 before tying the game in the fifth to set up the big inning.

“We jumped them pretty good early with some small ball stuff and our guys came through with some clutch hits,” said GU coach Lynn Carlson. “We scratched out some things in the sixth. We ended up with a big hit to score a run until Mokris hit a big bomb that spread the game out pretty good for us.” For more information see the February 28, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
