Greenville is getting a bookstore! Saturday on the northeast corner of the square, the Freckled Press will open at 10 a.m.

Customers will find a sidewalk sale with all sorts of specials. In addition, Blippi will greet children and read stories from noon until 2 p.m. Then Barbie arrives to visit and read until 3 p.m. Both characters hope you will take pictures with them. Fantastic Pops, a gourmet popsicle wagon, will join the crowd from noon until 2 p.m.

Rosie Baker, owner and manager, told the Advocate, “I worked at the library for 10 years and enjoyed it; I love to read; my kids love to read. Greenville needs a bookstore.” The shop will offer mostly fiction written within the last five years. She has some used books and hopes to obtain more through trade and donations from customers. She hopes customers will tell her what sort of books they have been seeking, and she will start looking. For more information see the August 15, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
