At the December 20 meeting of the Bond County Community Unit #2 school board, the 2023 tax levy was approved with a 7% increase in EAV. The board also voted to abate the taxes levied for 2023 to pay debt service.

A hearing was held before the start of the regular meeting, this hearing was to determine the need for the school board to take action on “pavement of playgrounds, school bus turnarounds, student drop-off areas, sidewalks and parking areas,” at Greenville Highschool, Greenville Jr, High and Pocahontas elementary schools. This hearing was an informational one, meant to allow citizens to express concerns on the topic, and for the board to review information on the repairs.

The consent agenda was approved towards the beginning of the meeting and contained the minutes of the November 15, 2023 meeting, and the December reimbursements.

Under action items, the bills for the month totaling just over $383,000 were approved, along with the financial report, and the resolution to determine the need for repair to pavement and parking areas. For more information see the December 22, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
