A senior moment

The other day Jack and I were trying to remember when we first had broccoli. We don’t think our mothers either one cooked it when we were young, but eventually it made it into both family rotations.

When was the first time you had avocado? Sushi? If you’re in your 70s or beyond, you probably didn’t even have pizza as a child. I remember making it in eighth grade cooking class and telling my mother about it. She was suspicious then and never did become much of a fan.

Today I like broccoli and avocado and pizza — sushi not so much. But as I get older, I find that “I haven’t tried that so I’m not sure I want to” creeps into my vocabulary more often. For more information see the October 13, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
