Jobs up, unemployment down in June

According to preliminary data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES), the unemployment rate fell 0.1 percentage points to 4.0% in June. Nonfarm payrolls rose by 8,400 jobs in June. The May revised unemployment rate was 4.1%, unchanged from the preliminary rate. The May monthly change in payrolls was revised from the preliminary report, from 2,500 to 5,400 jobs. For more information see the July 25, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
