Pocahontas-Old Ripley Fire, Rescue and EMS held their annual Volunteer Fireman’s Picnic Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to midnight both nights. Despite the possibility of rain, the weather held off on Saturday, bringing pleasant, cool temperatures and saw a large crowd. The event featured food, beer, a petting zoo, bounce houses, car bash, dunk tank, and live music, courtesy of Benders and Backroads Friday and the Chapman Brothers Saturday. The parade began at 6 p.m. on Saturday and had a good turnout. For more photos see the July 11, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
