It was a Friday night shutout for the Greenville High School girls soccer team as they traveled to Gillespie and beat the Miners 2-0 in an SCC conference matchup.

The win moved GHS to 6-8 overall and 2-2 in SCC play while Gillespie dropped to 2-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in the SCC.

“The girls put in a full 80-minute performance today,” said GHS coach Chris Swift. “Defensively we were solid and were able to get the shutout, and we created a lot of chances. These girls keep on fighting, even when the bounces haven’t gone their way. They have stayed together and stayed positive and today they got the result they earned. Really happy for Haylee Hediger to get the first goal of her career. We are going to need to have another full team effort on Tuesday against Hillsboro, but we will carry this performance and momentum into that game!” For more information see the April 18, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
