The Illinois Department of Transportation recently announced that repairs to the bridges over the CSXT Railroad east of Mulberry Grove and the bridges over Hurricane Creek on US Route 40 will begin on March 13.

The completion of the bridge repairs, which include deck patching, joint replacements, and deck overlays, will necessitate the closure of US Route 40. These repairs will improve the safety of the bridges and provide a smoother driving surface for motorists. A detour utilizing Interstate 70 and the interchanges in Mulberry Grove and Vandalia will be posted. Work is expected to be completed on the bridge over the CSXT Railroad within 45 days after its closure. The bridges over Hurricane Creek are expected to be completed by early November.
