On Sept. 8, the Mulberry Grove Elementary School hosted its eighteenth annual grandparents day. The day was meant to recognize the important role that grandparents play in student’s lives.

Eighteen years ago Shelley Brimberry started a tea with grandparents program. For the first couple of years, she ran the program out of her classroom. As she is now getting ready to retire from MGES, the attendance has grown to almost 60 grandparents. “I saw the importance of the role that grandparents played in my student’s lives and I thought it would be a fun thing to acknowledge them — coinciding with the national holiday,” Brimberry said.
