It’s an upset of major proportions.

The Greenville Jr. High 7th grade girls basketball team pulled off a big upset Tuesday night in the semifinals of the IESA Class 7A Staunton Regional.

GJHS beat top-seeded Litchfield 17-16 to advance to the regional championship against the host school Wednesday. Unfortunately, results were unavailable at press time. Staunton was a winner over East St. Louis (Lincoln) 34-32.

“Great defensive effort,” said 7th grade coach Lori Alstat. “Lily Bohannon was awesome on the boards. Nova Roeder with a huge steal and bucket at the end of the fourth quarter.” For more information see the November 17, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
