The Mulberry Grove village board held its June meeting on Monday. The board approved last month’s meeting’s minutes, approved the financial report, and approved the bills for payment.

Brad Criner gave the building inspector’s report. For the month of May, there were no building permits issued. One building permit was denied for a structure listed as non-dwelling. There are currently nine active files, five pending court actions, and three active building permits.

The board discussed an issue that has arisen when taking someone to court over property issues. A search needs to be done in the county record to see who the legal owner of the property is, as they are the ones who need to be served warnings, tickets, or taken to court. An individual who currently lives on the property, occupies the property, or claims to be the owner, might not actually be the legal owner.
