The Mulberry Grove Fire Protection District was dispatched at 8:44 p.m. Monday night to a field fire south of Route 140, southeast of Interstate 70 in rural Mulberry Grove. Firefighters arrived on scene to find approximately one tenth of an acre of corn stubble on fire, in a field with no supervision. The fire was extinguished with the district’s brush truck, using approximately 75 gallons of water and then returned to service.

Three firefighters were at the scene for about 15 minutes with no injuries. Other firefighters stood by at the firehouse as further manpower was not required.
