“…now we have to go and try and improve from today and go play MELHS tomorrow.” — Chris Swift after his team’s 6-0 win Thursday afternoon.

There is no way Greenville High School girls soccer coach Chris Swift knew what Friday’s game in Edwardsville against Metro East Lutheran had in store for his club.

Competing in a game that was originally canceled then called back on approximately an hour before the bus departed, the Lady Comets struggled but Emma Veith tied the game with 20 seconds to play in regulation to force overtime. Eventually, GHS won the contest 3-2 in penalty kicks. For more information see the March 21, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
