AMVETS help Thrift Shop with changeover

The local HSHS Holy Family Thrift Shop is one of the best hospital thrift shops in the region. It is operated and managed by volunteers from the Hospital Auxiliary. To maintain the integrity and service at the Thrift Shop is no easy task. Many of the volunteers work several hours four or five days a week.

One of the busiest times of the year is when the volunteers prepare for seasonal changeovers. Each early spring and early fall, everything is cleared out of the building to make room for the next season’s donated items. This task begins at noon on a scheduled Saturday, when the doors are closed and boxing and bagging goes into motion. The building will be completely cleared out that afternoon. The next day (Sunday) is spent cleaning and restocking the building so that the Thrift Shop can open for business the following Monday morning at 10 a.m. For more information see the March 21, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
