Lady Comets softball falls to EAWR, Wesclin to begin season

They fell behind early and the deficit just became too great.

East Alton (Wood River) scored a run in the first then tacked on a pair of big innings to take a 7-0 lead after four innings and cruised to a 7-3 win over the Lady Comets to open the season Tuesday at the GHS softball field.

“Overall we played okay, but we started off slow,” said GHS coach Steve Dannaman. “We didn’t strike out all day so we hit the ball. Toward the end, we hit some nice shots and scored three runs in the last two innings.” For more information see the March 17, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
