Aces drop close contest at Carlyle

They almost pulled one out on opening day

But they just couldn’t hold the lead.

Mulberry Grove got a two-run double off the bat of Jackson Icenogle in the top of the sixth inning to take a 4-3 lead but gave it back in the bottom half as Carlyle put up a big inning and went on to beat the Aces 6-4 on Tuesday.

“It was our very first game of the season and we’re knocking some rust off but I’m very proud of the boys for putting up a fight and not giving up,” said MG coach Kevin Millikin. “We learned about some things we need to work on.
