This weekend, March 17-19, the Bond County Ministerial Alliance, together with Core Community, will host Bridges out of Poverty, a three-day workshop for community members. The stated goal is not just to alleviate poverty or reduce it, but to solve it.

The program began in Bond County in 2019. Lisa Barber, resource and site director, says “Core Community brings families experiencing poverty into a safe place where their voices are heard. They are treated with dignity as they begin to unpack what poverty is like where they live. They participate in creating solutions to get out of poverty — including themselves.” For more information see the March 14, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
