According to the National Weather Service, this week is storm preparedness week in Illinois. With spring approaching, that means severe weather is on its way. Being prepared and knowing what you will do if severe weather comes through can save lives.

Stay informed by monitoring weather alert radios, local radio, and TV broadcasts, National Weather Service websites as well as apps on computers and smartphones. Do not rely on only one method of receiving warnings, especially when it comes to tornado sirens. These are meant to warn those outdoors and may not be audible indoors.
