Mulberry Grove made the long trip south to face Elkville (Elverado) on Feb. 11, but returned to Bond County with a 67-65 defeat.
Elverado’s Jake Jones — who finished with 29 points — hit a last-second shot to win it for the Eagles.
The Aces outscored the Eagles 26-25 in the final stanza but couldn’t overcome the free throw shooting by Elverado.
The Eagles went 17 for 21 from the line in the final quarter and 22 for 31 overall. Mulberry Grove went 8 for 11. For more information see the February 17, 2023 edition of The Greenville Advocate.
