Unemployment rate stable for December, jobs down

The statewide unemployment rate remained unchanged at 4.7 percent and non-farm payrolls were down by -800 for the month of December, based on preliminary data provided by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). The November monthly change in payrolls was revised from the previous preliminary report, from +17,500 to +12,100 jobs. The November unemployment rate was unchanged, remaining at 4.7 percent.
