The Fighting Illini football team rolled over Northwestern 41-3 in the season finale last week-end, notching a 5-4 conference record and an 8-4 overall record to post their first eight-win since 2007.
The result was just missing out on being ranked in the Top 25 and playing every game closely, even taking Michigan to within a few seconds of an upset and playing them closer than any of their 12 opponents. Looking at the records of the top 25 closely, I can’t beef about the Illini not being included, but they were one of the most improved teams in the country and that is something of which to be proud.
